January is Crime Stoppers Month, help stay safe by getting involved and keeping yourself informed

Crime Stoppers has announced several events in Ottawa across the entire city. With the increase in crime we've seen in the past year, this annual awareness mission serves to be even more useful, arming average citizens with resources they can use to fight back against the armed criminals out to wreak havoc on their lives. The events are intended to educate citizens about the program as well as make coordinators and volunteers available to the general public in order to answer any questions people may have for them.

The schedule and locations are as follows:
  • January 10th at Carleton University
  • January 12th at Algonquin College
  • January 17th at Billings Bridge Plaza
  • January 18th at Carlingwood Mall
  • January 21st at Walmart 2210 Bank St.

Stay tuned for OCN's visit to one of the venues, as we're hoping to interview or get comments on current events from staff and volunteers.

Crime Stoppers is a vital tool in the strive for public safety, for law enforcement and the general public alike, and OCN's readers are encouraged to stay updated with their website, in order to better know what's happening in your neighborhood, and what to watch out for.
As always, Crime Stoppers would like the following to be known:

The Crime Stoppers program guarantees the anonymity of the tipster. Remember Crime Stoppers does not subscribe to call display, we will not record your call and you are not required to testify in court. If your information leads to an arrest or a charge, you could qualify for a cash reward of up to $2000.
