Ottawa Sun - Ontario's police watchdog has confirmed the identity of a man killed Friday in a confrontation with London police.
A spokesperson for the Special Investigations Unit said the deceased was Samuel Maloney, 35.
An autopsy has been completed on Maloney but the results will not be released until the SIU investigation is complete, Jason Gennaro said Monday.
"We are not saying anything about it because that is evidence. I can only tell you that it is done," he said.
Maloney died in a clash with police early Friday morning at his Duchess Avenue home.
One officer was wounded, reportedly shot by a crossbow.
An arm's length provincial agency, the SIU investigates reports of incidents involving police where there has been a death or serious injury.
In the case of the London shooting, the SIU said it has designated three subject officers and 18 witness officers.
The SIU continues to urge anyone with information about the incident to contact the lead investigator at 1-800-787-8529 ext. 1935.
London police forensic investigators remained on the scene of the shooting Monday.
